Panawagan sa Keyboard Warriors at SocMed Debaters: Mag-research-research pag may time
Gayonpaman, konti lang sanang research-research pag may time. Kundi man ay matutong tumahimik paminsan-minsan.
“The time when Budoy was the governor, he had all the support of Firmalo who was the Congressman then. SEE THE DIFFERENCE.”
May Lyn Tibio’s Biography
(From the Facebook page Pag-unlad ng Romblon. January 8, 2019)
There has been a smear campaign against our strong volunteer, Ms. May Tibio. She has been helping the team of Gov. Lolong to win the election this 2019, despite she’s miles away from home. This is for ONE reason only…SHE LOVES ROMBLON.
Who is Ms. May?
She finished her education from her home country, Philippines. May got the degree of Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology. During her university years, she was a consistent student leader and actively participated in all school activities. Being one of the student leaders, she was exposed in several extracurricular activities where most of them where initiated by her. She had the internship in the Consultancy of her two respected professors, The Trinity Consultancy & Psychological Services (TCPS). May’s experience in the said office was the best training ground as she was exposed to various types of office works such as administrative — preparation of business correspondences, research studies and practicing her field of education as Psychometrician. After graduation, TCPS invited her to start her professional career with them same time she entered the married life.
Being a working wife and a young mother, it was difficult for her to devote her fulltime in work. Hence, she decided to stop working and instead took care of her offspring, until May is blessed with four adorable children. At that time, she had home based jobs. She accepted part time jobs as Psychometrician for Philippine Army, the Training and Development Command Unit (TRADOC) and some “earning from home” sales works. In between, she tried to work in a private law firm where she gained additional professional experience.
When May was ready to work full time, she got the opportunity to enter the Recruitment Industry. She was a respondent of a paper ad and had the chance to be called for interview — thereafter she got the job. That was the first job she applied and she was fortunate to be offered as Recruitment Specialist (RS). During her first month, she familiarized herself with all the activities in the operation. Regardless of the nature of the job, she was very eager to learn to equip herself for career advancement.
May’s career in Philippines accelerated in no time. She was able to head a department and enhance the procedure, and meet target despite the complexity of the rules in Philippines. In just few months after she got promoted, she practically functioned as the Deputy Staff for the GM. When the GM decided to leave the company, the corporate office appointed May to be the acting GM. This time she had the chance to visit their clients in the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait particularly the Ministry of Defense (KMOD). May was little disappointed when she came back as she was asked to focus in Bus. Dev. rather than formal appointment as GM. The conflict aroused and that made her decide to be in the Consultant position. Her professional recruitment career was molded and further developed.
What May had been through, the ability to manage and excel in the profession and handle the family at the same time became her strength.
The opportunity of working in United Arab Emirates came to her, she accepted the offer as Business Development Executive. In a short period of time, she was able to usher a lot of business opportunities to the company through her own leads and network. She traveled for marketing and client management. She was able to help the company reorganize the procedures to a more strategic system to accommodate more accounts. She developed marketing tools for client presentations, revision of contracts, and even the close monitoring of the operations under her accounts. Since her scope of responsibilities was limited, she was reluctant if the company would be able to deliver what she sold to her clients. Consequently, she decided to leave to put up her own operation where she can be in control of the whole operation.
Since 2007, May has contributed in the development in the Middle East in her own little way. To date, she has given jobs to more than 15,000 people to various companies from various countries, and of various levels.
One of her legacies is the support her company provided to Nakilat–Keppel Offshore Marine. In 2009–2010, during the construction of 8-kilomenter long shipyard in Ras Laffan, she was one of the pioneers who practically facilitated and supported the top management for the transfer and recruitment of the first 1000 employees of NKOM until they found their feet strongly started in the country. She also became the top recruiter for Al Jaber Group from the year 2007–2013 and consultation works to date.
In 2011, she became interested to enter the construction industry as she gained a lot of experience and network. She was able to establish a small team up to more than a hundred people and trained them to be expert in the Stone Installation. Since then, Ms. May has been involved in various high value projects in the country participating in specialized subcontracting in stone works. Despite of the challenges she faced in the construction industry, she remained strong and optimistic to grow further and participate in more high value projects in the coming years which are projects are already underway.
The last 8 years in the construction industry has been a very challenging period and a continuous learning process. The experience brought by has been remarkable despite of challenges in the construction system.
Ms. May remains optimistic and committed for growth in her professional career.
This year, she is determined to achieve her ultimate dream to continue to be in business, do better on it, whilst continue to provide jobs for bread winners as she considers this as her ultimate passion.
FOR THE DETRACTORS OF FIRMALO, she’s not running. she is just one of the Romblomanons who wants to give back to her roots in her professional capability.
